Engineer 4 Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our Strategic Sourcing Design for Supply Chain team. This role under Global Supply Chain (GSC) Strategic Sourcing will perform sourcing, supplier development and sustainment support activities for multiple military air-vehicle program platforms for the NGAS sector.

This position will be in
Clearfield, UT, or Redondo Beach, CA. This position is responsible for supply base technical management related to acquiring integrated structures and structural components both metallic and non-metallic. This position requires a motivated individual able to work independently and as a team player who can multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of program, engineering and GSC stakeholders.
Essential Function:
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities

Provide sourcing recommendation to internal customers (common products procurement and major subcontract) by utilizing strategic sourcing tools.
* Identifying and on-boarding new sources of integrated structures and structural details such as machined parts, composites, and additive manufacturing.
* Conducting capability and capacity assessments, performing supplier audits, assessing risks, and performance monitoring of suppliers for assigned commodities.
* Identifying and evaluating suppliers to support make to buy offloads or buy to buy transitions.
* Travel required up to 25%.
Skills:

In depth knowledge of at least one of the following structural aspects of a vehicle:
Machined structures, bonded structures, composite structures

* Work effectively with engineering, and materials & processes, supplier quality and sub-contracts organizations to help resolve technical supplier challenges and access supplier capabilities for global supply chain and capture teams.
* Support successful execution of supplier source selection, on-boarding (if applicable) and follow-on acquisition cycles with structural suppliers.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, or Mathematical) degree, with 9 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing role; OR Master's Degree with 7 years' experience in Engineering/Manufacturing

Demonstrated experience in interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models for fabrication and assembly of integrated structures.
* Demonstrated experience reviewing model based engineering CAD, engineering specifications, manufacturing notes, and/or drawings to optimize procurement needs for Design for Manufacturability without compromising design intent.

Experience using SAP, Windows software packages, and other electronic databases.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance with SAP.
Preferred Experiences:

Prior operational manufacturing experience for fabrication and/or assembly of structural integration and assemblies in metallics, composites, and/or bonded assemblies.
* Experience and understanding of standards for the production structural assemblies.
* Experience in integration of sub-systems, and components into structural assemblies.
* Experienced with NADCAP requirements for various processes used in aerospace structures.
* Knowledge of FAR & DFAR requirements
* Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
* Special Access Program clearance
Salary Range: $104,400 - $181,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
