Title: Member Engagement Coordinator

Travel throughout Designated zone of Manhattan and Staten Island (Food Bank Provides Monthly Metrocard for Site Visits)

Locations: 39 Broadway- Lower Manhattan (Hybrid/ Field/ Office)

Candidates will meet at 39 Broadway or another offsite location 1-2 times per month. Average of 3 days per week in the field conducting visits.

Spanish preferred, but not required.

Primary Purpose of the Job:

Food Bank's Member Engagement Coordinators (MECs) monitor FBNYC network members' compliance with food safety, distribution and handling standards and provide capacity building assistance. The Member Engagement Coordinator provides superior customer service to assist members in meeting their clients' income support and food needs. The Member Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in recruiting members for advocacy activities, nutrition education, income support services, including recommending programs to be Virtual VITA sites, TEN members and JSY providers.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • The MEC will have a portfolio of approximately 150 Food Bank member agencies with an average of 75 compliance visits annually;
  • The MEC is the liaison between FBNYC and food distribution programs and conducts annual compliance site visits according to established procedures to assure compliance with regulations and standards and provide technical assistance;
  • The MEC develops a strong relationship with Food Bank members and maintains frequent communication with their portfolio of agencies;
  • Conduct approximately 15 trainings per year from Food Bank offices as well as in-zone on core competencies to food distribution programs;
  • Travel throughout the network to conduct capacity building visits to connect members to other Food Bank grants, programs, assist with conversion to Client Choice, and provide superior customer service support with any service need;
  • Complete site visit reports within 7-10 days; maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of site visits and record monitoring data;
  • Ensure assigned members are within compliance with membership obligations, including, but not limited to online ordering frequency, FEEDNYC submission and grant spend down, maintain up to date member files for all members in assigned zone including 501c3, food safety documentation and counter-signed contracts;
  • Assess and assist members with client choice information and conversion;
  • Assist with developing and upholding department policies and procedures;
  • Provide succinct feedback to Member Services leadership on trends and needs of their zoned community related to capacity, food needs, and client base;
  • Assess members' capacity for and make formal referrals to Programs department for participation in TEN, Taxes, and Benefits;
  • Coordinate logistics and administrative tasks associated with programs and monitoring activities, including, but not limited to responsibility for data entry, filing and meeting coordination;
  • Lead and assist on special projects within Member Services as well as other departments in FBNYC;
  • Lead workshops, develop content, and support all efforts for a successful annual agency conference;
  • Be able to present Food Bank's scope of services and mission and core values;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is flexible and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task; should be able to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
  • Bachelor's degree and one to two years' experience in community-based training, program monitoring or other related field preferred;
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred;
  • Ability to work independently in a challenging position with a constantly changing work environment;
  • Travel throughout the assigned zone; minimum of 3 days per week in the field required;
  • Food Safety Certification a plus, but not required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required;
  • Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite a plus.
