Think all that time playing Angry Birds and Words with Friends last year was a waste? Turns out, games may be more than just a way to pass the time. Game designer Jane McGonigal believes games have the power to change your life (and even lengthen it!). So, she developed a game, called SuperBetter, to do just that—to help people tackle their real-life challenges with the help of virtual identities, quests, power-ups, and allies.

In this new TED talk, she explains the deeply personal story and the intriguing science behind her game. Best of all, she promises to extend everyone’s life by seven minutes before the end of it. (Um, OK.) Watch and see for yourself.

I loved this video. My husband likes playing games for 30 mIn's a day. I hate it. This was the most interesting and mind numbing speech i have heard on Ted TV. Something to think about. Defiantly opens your mind.
