love this! i have been looking for some black work pants that aren't to "work-y"--nicely done!
For a sheath-dress-and-black-flats girl like me, a Monday through Friday work wardrobe is functional, but can get pretty monotonous. Every once in a while, I’m truly inspired by a young professional who manages to showcase her originality and style every day of the week. We’ll be profiling one of these women each month, and let them bring some inspiration to your workplace fashion as well.
Our first fashion muse: Sophie, 22 years old, who works for a museum in NYC.
Look #1: Monday to Thursday
Whether you work in a conservative office or not, your workplace wardrobe doesn’t have to be boring. You can pair a traditional item (like black pants or a black pencil skirt) with a patterned blouse, like this one.

It’s All in the Details
Use accessories to bring flair to your outfit—here, a vintage watch with a classic black strap shows character, while staying work-appropriate.
Invest in the Basics
The perfect pair of black pants is not a place to skimp, but it’s important to find your style—this slightly boyish and tapered cut is at once impeccable and very Sophie.
Keep it Simple
With hair and jewelry, simplicity is essential to balance out this bold ensemble.
Look #2: Casual Friday
Most offices let you loosen up on Fridays. Take the opportunity to show your personality a bit more!
All Shapes and Sizes
Jewelry that Fits
Switch in a New Purse
Fridays are a chance to mix up your accessories too! Try handbags in warmer tones and less rigid shapes than your traditional black purse.
Sole Power
Shoes are another great place to show your style. Try pairing a traditional cut with unique patterns, colors, or textures for a little more flair.
Look #3: For the Weekend
When you roll out of bed for Saturday brunch, there’s no harm in just slipping on jeans and a t-shirt…
Add All the Extras
… as long as you combine it with funky jewelry, for a casual but urban look.
Accent Color
Add a splash of color with bright lipstick and a pair of neutral heels.
Ready for Anything
And you’re good to go.
