Makin’ It (at) Work: Lucky Green

Considering I’m a redhead with a dash of Irish heritage in her, falling in love with green was inevitable. It wasn’t up to me; it’s in my DNA.

As my Irish luck would have it, I’m not the only one loving green this season—emerald is making a strong statement on the runways for fall 2011. With the color popping up everywhere from elegant evening gowns at Ralph Lauren to sophisticated leathers at Valentino, emerald green can be a great color choice for almost any occasion. (And I wouldn’t say no to a cozy Les Copains winter coat either!)

A sleek emerald green dress from Banana Republic is a bold choice without making me feel like I’m crossing any dress code line with some outrageous color.

Plus, in soft matte jersey, it’s incredibly comfortable and transitions easily from day to night. (It’s not available in green anymore, but you can find a similar wrap dress in stores now.)

With a color that’s interesting enough on its own, I usually stick with black patent heels with this dress, but I couldn’t resist pairing it with my new leopard print flats!

Like the dress, they make a statement, while still being totally office-appropriate (and super comfortable, too!)

How will you wear green this season? I plan to get the most out of this dress, and the temperatures have dropped just enough for me to break out my emerald green fall jacket!
