These office-appropriate sparkly outfits all look great! When it comes to sparkles, however, they tend to have a visually expanding effect on the midsection. Fortunately I've come up with a solution for this problem and posted it in my blog. Check it out at 2flatteryourfigure dot blogspot dot com
Do you sometimes wish that it was always December, the one month of the year when sequins are entirely acceptable? Stores put out their best sequin and bead-adorned options for our holiday parties, and I find myself making up excuses for trying on beaded tops and sequined skirts. Resolution for 2012: Go to more holiday parties so that I can buy more sparkly dresses!
Much of the sparkle on the racks is a little much for the average workday, but I decided to make my J.Crew sequin cardigan work for my office’s holiday luncheon. It’s a festive green, and in typical J.Crew style, the sparkle is subtle and tasteful.

Full disclosure: I’d already worn the sweater to the office before the Month of the Sequin began, so I knew that it could pass—there were only a few double takes and “nice sweater” comments.
Will you be testing out some sparkle for your office’s holiday party? If every other day of the year you’re adhering to a conservative dress code, then here’s your chance to branch out—try a subtle belt or tasteful cardigan.
And if “conservative” isn’t part of your office’s lexicon, then why not take it up a notch with a top, pants, even your shoes! (Just, er, not all at once.)
Below are a few of my favorite options for showing some shimmer at your office’s holiday gathering.
Finally, we’re obsessed with the ultimate sequin wardrobe piece: The J. Crew Sequin Long Skirt, $2,500. (Hey, a girl can dream, right? Imagine having blogger Jentine’s outfit for your holiday party.)
Let us know if you’re trying sparkles this season, and how it goes over in your office!
