The warmer weather tends to bring out our playful sides, and we find ourselves with even more post-work plans than usual. Whether it’s a patio happy hour, dinner party under the stars, or an evening by the pool, you need an easy way to take your office look from serious to summertime social.

To make your outfit go from day to night, all you have to do is store a few of the season’s must-have pieces at your desk for a quick switch.

Use these staples to instantly brighten—or lighten—up your look for an easy-breezy summer statement. Check out these five outfit additions, inspired by our favorite style bloggers!

Patio Happy Hour: Wear a Bright Bag

Inspired by Kendi Everyday

If you’re heading out for drinks with coworkers at the patio bar, ditch your structured satchel or briefcase and grab a clutch in a candy-colored hue. Switching to a bright bag will take your office look from sophisticated to summer-chic.

Backyard Dinner Party: Bring on the Bling

Inspired by Cupcakes and Cashmere

Going to group dinner under the stars? Pair a bold statement necklace (think sparkly, neon, or both) with your work dress. For a little more sass, try a pair of cuffs or stack colorful bangles, too. The pop-of-color against your everyday shift will give it an updated and fresh summertime feel.

Cocktails by the Pool: Slip into Sandals

Inspired by Sincerely Jules

A post-work drink by the pool is one of the most relaxing summertime activities, so why not slip into something carefree and comfortable? Swap your office pumps for a pair of strappy boho sandals. For the evenings when the heat is still sweltering, try switching into a short skirt, too, to compliment your laidback attitude.

Outdoor Concert: Add an Edgy Vest

Inspired by Eat.Sleep.Wear.

If you’re hurrying to a concert or outdoor festival after work, ditch the work blazer or cardigan and throw on a cool vest over your blouse or dress. The switch will give your work attire a retro-rocker vibe perfect for swaying in the summer breeze.

Inspired by Atlantic Pacific

An evening spent at the ballpark calls for a super-casual switch. Ditch the work pants or skirt for a pair of comfy shorts. Whether they’re jean, linen, or polka dotted, cute shorts will add a bit of sportiness and tone down the rest of your work attire.

I love the idea of using statement pieces of jewelry for a night out after work! A bright bag or clutch would also work in this particular case. Not too sure about the shorts and a cap with such a formal top in reality (at least where I live), but somehow I find a lot of gorgeous photos in magazines with similar looks and they just appear so effortlessly cool!
