Do you sometimes wish that it was always December, the one month of the year when sequins are entirely acceptable? Stores put out their best sequin and bead-adorned options for our holiday parties, and I find myself making up excuses for trying on beaded tops and sequined skirts. Resolution for 2012: Go to more holiday parties so that I can buy more sparkly dresses!
Much of the sparkle on the racks is a little much for the average workday, but I decided to make my J.Crew sequin cardigan work for my office’s holiday luncheon. It’s a festive green, and in typical J.Crew style, the sparkle is subtle and tasteful.
Will you be testing out some sparkle for your office’s holiday party? If every other day of the year you’re adhering to a conservative dress code, then here’s your chance to branch out—try a subtle belt or tasteful cardigan.
And if “conservative” isn’t part of your office’s lexicon, then why not take it up a notch with a top, pants, even your shoes! (Just, er, not all at once.)
