Cook Children's Health Care System (CCHCS), one of the nation's leading comprehensive quaternary care children's healthcare systems, as initiated an international search for a transformational pediatric cardiac surgeon with an interest in leading the establishment of a cardiac transplant program that will serve the needs of children in large portions of North and West Texas. Physician must be board certified in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery, Congenital Cardiac Surgery, currently UNOS certified in heart transplant, and able to secure an unrestricted Texas Medical License.

The Heart Center at Cook Children's Medical Center performs approximately 500 open heart surgeries and 500 catheterizations per year and conducts 12,500 outpatient visits and performs 15,000 echocardiograms annually. Additionally, the cardiology group performed 130 cardiac MRIs last year, and that number is expected to continue to grow. The Heart Center 3D Lab provides in-house printing and virtual planning of all complex congenital heart disease.

Key Opportunity Highlights:

  • Join an established program specializing in care for neonates, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease. Currently 800+ patients are served by the congenital heart program.
  • The Heart Center team includes 2-pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons, a 17-physician Cardiology group consisting of 2 Adult Congenital Cardiologists, 2 Invasive Pediatric Cardiologists, 2 Electrophysiologists, and 6 Noninvasive Imaging Cardiologists with ability to do fetal echocardiography, TEE, MRI, IMRI, and 3D imaging including a complete inhouse 3D print lab.
  • The CCHCS has made a formal commitment to the resources necessary to vision and build a comprehensive cardiac transplant program.
  • The integrated Heart Center consists of 2 cardiac catheterization labs, 2 cardiovascular operating rooms, a dedicated CVICU, and echo labs with full digital capability. The lab is completely integrated with all outreach clinics and ability for real time review of studies.
  • Transplant program supported by Cook Children's Physician Network, a physician led practice plan that represents the largest pediatric multi-specialty physician group in its service area with over 600 employed subspecialty and primary care providers.
