Announcing The Daily Muse’s Virtual Book Club!

The Uncoupling

As professional young women, it can be hard to fit time for reading into our busy schedules. Long meetings, conference calls, and after-work plans can often leave us too drained to commit to a novel, even when we have the best of intentions.

Here at The Daily Muse, we understand that it can be difficult to find time to read. But we also encourage you to make a pact with us: join our monthly Virtual Book Club, and sneak minutes in on your commute, at your lunch break, and before bed. Read along with us, and then weigh in: hear others’ opinions and posit your own in our virtual discussion.

Start your September off with a kick of old-school female empowerment. In The Uncoupling, Meg Wolitzer reworks Aristophanes’ comic work Lysistrata, in which the femme fatales of ancient Greece halted the Peloponnesian war by withholding sex from their husbands. Her tale blends real with supernatural, examining sex, love, and—of course—female power in the modern age.

Read The Uncoupling, and prepare to join our discussion, which will go live on the site the first week in October.

About the Author

Molly is The Daily Muse’s resident bookworm. She currently works in communications and is begrudgingly learning to be a grownup. She likes coffee shops and (the bakery aisle of) grocery stores, reading about other places but not necessarily traveling to them, keeping things clean, and stalking the Harvard Opportunes, her beloved college a cappella group. Please help her be a better Tweeter @MHDonovan.
