Weekend Recovery: Fun Stuff for a Springtime Sunday

Weekend Recovery

Whether you’re curled up inside to stay out of the cold or enjoying some sunshine, start your Sunday here. We’ve got a round-up of things that will make it a whole lot more fun: reading, watching, projects to try, and, of course, a DIY Bloody Mary Bar.

Women’s Health Experts Speak Out

Remember a few weeks ago when Congress assembled a panel to discuss birth control, and invited exactly zero women to the party? Well, thanks to Nick Offerman (also known as Parks & Recreations’ Ron Swanson), SNL’s Tim Meadows, and a bunch of other funny dudes, it makes way more sense now. In sum: “late middle-aged men know the most about everything.”

(This, of course spawned another video: an “all-lady panel of dick experts,” convened to discuss men’s reproductive issues.)

Matchbook Magazine

I’ve always loved magazines. Years ago, there was absolutely nothing better than discovering a new publication on the grocery store shelves—Lucky and Real Simple in 2000, Domino (now defunct) in 2005, even Sunset after it became cool in 2001.

Those days (sadly) are pretty much over, but discovering Matchbook this week brought back a spark of that same feeling. Matchbook is a beautiful online magazine for the girl who “values eccentricity over convention” and “loves to throw dinner parties, but has been known to burn the roast.” Browse culture, living, fashion, and even some history lessons on your iPad or the site in a flip-book form. It’s the next best thing to actual paper pages.

Spring cleaning is almost here, and we all know that’s not so fun. So, before you have to move your coats to the back of the closet and figure out what exactly has been hiding in your freezer, here are a few projects to make clearing out your clutter a bit more exciting:

Indulge

Make a Bloody Mary Bar

Because the best part of Sunday is brunch, the best part of brunch is Bloody Marys, and the best part of drinking Bloody Marys at brunch is not having to drive home afterwards. Here’s how to set up a killer Bloody Mary bar in the comfort of your own home.
